The 4 Best Ways to Find a Book Agent

Literary agents are so hard to find these days. What’s up with that? I have a very good manuscript that I have sent to most of my friends. Everyone says the love it. Some people even say they can’t put down my novel.

But, I can’t get a book agent interested? I must have sent out at least 50 query letters last month. If you are interested, I would like to tell you what I’m going to try next. I read it in a magazine and I think it is worth a try.

My Dad always said, “Start with who you know.” I’ve decided to write down a list of all my friends and start asking them if they know anybody who has written a book or published a book or anyone who is an agent. Then I’m going to call these people up and ask the same thing. You figger, I’m bound to find someone who knows somebody.

To keep myself busy I think that I’m going to enter some writing contests. My high school teacher said, “What ever you do keep writing”. Maybe I might get lucky and find a book agent who is a judge that reads my work.

I also heard someplace that you don’t always need an agent. I could find some of the smaller publishers listed in those publishing directories and approach them myself. It’s probably worth a try. Even if they don’t like me I’m going to ask for a referral to an agent they may know.

I’m still young. I will not give up on finding a publishing agent or publisher. My stuff really is good.
