Different Kinds Of Tents

People back then dwell in crude dwellings and one of the first forms of these types of dwellings come in the form of tents.  As the evolution of civilizations move further, so did the building of houses and living in concrete and stone houses became the trend.  Because most of the population now live in urbanized cities, the urge to get away from it all and to get re-in touch with nature have made camping a favorite vacation.

Each year, the number of people going camping increases and a few of the reasons why is to get a vacation and not to spend too much money.  Camping activities such as cooking and making shelter has become more faster and convenient thanks to modern camping equipments.  Compared to cooking in open flames in the ground, compact LPG-powered stoves burn cleaner and cook faster while tents have gone from a big canvass held by sticks to durable and bendable carbon fibre poles and water proof synthetic fabrics.

Modern tents can be more easily stored and have become versatile for camping convenience.  Tents are essential whether it’s for hiking, camping or backpacking.

The types of tents available for veteran or would-be campers are:

Pyramid Tents

The pyramid tent is the most simple where it can be created by one massive canvas supported by two poles and secured by stakes.  The simple assembly of pyramid tents make them regular camping forms and amateur campers will have quite an easy time in setting it up.  However, tents like these are prone to invasion by insects and vermin.  Many manufacturers of camping gears have made pyramid tents that include entryways with zippers which also have synthetic fabric canvass and carbon fiber poles and rods.

Dome Tents

One of the most common and preferred tents by many are dome tents.  Rain water is not just repelled more effectively with dome tents but it’s also designed to provide more space in its entrance and inside for its occupants compared to pyramid tents.  Regular dome tents are often erected using only two poles.  Dome tents that are modified offer more durability and resilience against strong winds and heavy rains.  Additional rods and poles to its endoskeleton allows it to be more sturdier.

Tunnel Tents

The shape of this kind of tent resembles that of a butterfly’s cocoon.  Tunnel tents usually come with two poles where one is much longer than the other one and single-pole varieties also exist.  The major advantage of tunnel tents is that they are built lighter.  Since they are built more compact, tunnel tents are the ideal type of tents for a 1 man tent

When you acquire a tent, keeping it dry is essential to prevent moisture damage such as mold and mildew which not only cause discoloration, it will also make them stinky and a potential health hazard.  If your tent is wet, it is good to dry it before storing it.  You can dry your tent by hanging it in a long clothesline and let the air dry it.  You can also let the sun dry it but it’s important to know that ultraviolet rays from the sun can potentially damage the tent fabric.  It is recommended not to expose it for prolonged periods under the sun otherwise wear and tear from heat would gradually deteriorate the fabric.
